  • LEGO quickly resolved the issue, confirming no user accounts were compromised
  • The incident raises concerns about cybersecurity, even for the biggest brands

Recently, an intruder took over the LEGO website and tried to lure users into purchasing something called “LEGO Coin,” a fake cryptocurrency scam.

Lego Has Been Hacked

On October 4, 2024, a banner appeared on the main page of lego.com, directing users to external sites unrelated to the company. The banner, featuring golden coins with the iconic LEGO logo, invited visitors to buy this new token, promising “secret rewards” for potential buyers.

In reality, this malicious banner tricked users, redirecting them to cryptocurrency websites where they were encouraged to buy “LEGO Tokens” using Ethereum, a popular digital currency.

LEGO quickly removed the banner and restored its website, reassuring users that no accounts had been compromised during the attack. “No user accounts were compromised, and customers can continue shopping as usual,” LEGO stated, reinforcing its commitment to cybersecurity.

The company also confirmed they had identified the cause of the attack and had already implemented measures to prevent future incidents. However, LEGO didn’t share specific details about the breach or the exact steps being taken to secure the site moving forward.

Conclusion

Although the situation was resolved quickly, it didn’t go unnoticed.

The incident sparked conversations among fans and raised concerns about website security and vulnerabilities, even for some of the world’s most trusted brands.
