- Caroline Crenshaw, SEC Commissioner, was not re-nominated
- Her anti-crypto stance met with 107,000 relevant emails
- Chris Brummer is the most likely candidate for the role, but not the only one
According to Fox Business, Caroline Crenshaw’s SEC Commissioner will not be re-nominated. This may be due to her anti-crypto stance, which is fundamentally different in the context of the new pro-crypto administration and its initiatives.
More About Caroline Crenshaw in SEC
Caroline Crenshaw has been a Democratic SEC Commissioner since 2022 but has often indicated an anti-crypto stance. Likely, because of the context of today’s pro-crypto administration, she will not be re-nominated, and she has faced over 107,000 emails calling for her removal.
Chris Brummer, a Georgetown law professor who almost led the CFTC in 2021, is considered the most likely candidate to replace her.
However, he is not the only one. There are also TuongVy Le, general counsel for crypto-focused Anchorage Digital, blockchain expert Jai Massari, and Carla Carriveau, an advisor to New York’s Department of Financial Services.
If its replacement options are indeed limited to this, it could signify a pro-crypto shift at the SEC and be an additional sign of a pro-crypto course for the entire US.
Of course, it is impossible not to mention the imminent resignation of SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, whose replacement also had several different candidates, all of whom shared a pro-crypto stance.
Conclusions
However, we need to wait for the official decisions that will allow us to draw further perspectives.
Be aware and stay tuned.
