- Argentina’s President Milei faces backlash over LIBRA, a cryptocurrency he promoted, now linked to insider trading and investor losses, sparking allegations of a pump-and-dump scheme
- Hayden Davis, LIBRA’s creator, denies involvement in the alleged scheme but reports link him and Kelsier Ventures to wallets that profited significantly from the token’s collapse
- Lawyer Gregorio Dalbón requests Interpol issue a Red Notice for Davis, citing his wealth and potential flight risk as the LIBRA scandal continues to unfold
Last month’s Libra coin scandal is still ongoing. In case you forgot, Argentina’s President Javier Mile faced severe backlash after publicly promoting a new cryptocurrency (LIBRA), that would later be dumped by inside traders… allegedly.
At the time, the South American President found himself in hot waters after the public attacked him for…allegedly… participating in a ‘pump and dump scheme’. The President later explained that he had no knowledge of the crypto project, and was only trying to support local endeavors that could favor the Argentinean people.
The creator of the currency, American-born and Kelsier Ventures CEO Hayden Davis shared a different perspective on the case. Davis claimed that he had been in direct contact with Javier Milei during the development of the LIBRA token.
Moreover, the American denied any involvement in the alleged pump-and-dump. However, subsequent reports were able to link Hayden Davis and Kelsier Ventures to wallets that profited significantly from the sudden token crash.
Argentine Lawyer Calls For Hayden To be Added To Interpol List
Gregorio Dalbón, an Argentine lawyer representing several victims of the Libra token debacle, has formally requested that Interpol issue a Red Notice for Hayden Davis.
As reported by Pagina 12, Dalbon believes that Hayden Davis could leave the United States as a fugitive to escape any potential repercussions from the case.
“Given the magnitude of the scandal and the substantial losses incurred by investors, it is evident that Hayden Mark Davis’s continued freedom poses a procedural risk,” Dalbón wrote in a document to prosecutor Eduardo Taiano. “His central role in the creation and promotion of the cryptocurrency $LIBRA, coupled with the international repercussions of the case, increases the likelihood that he may take steps to evade justice.”
Gregorio Dalbón argues an international arrest warrant should be valid given Davis’ extensive wealth — he argues that the Kelsier Ventures’ CEO could use it to leave the United States, or even go into hiding.
On Monday, the American entrepreneur shared a message reiterating his intention to cooperate and participate in the case being held in Argentina. He also claims he has hired a new team of lawyers to handle the case in the South American nation.
