Kamala Harris Gains Strong Support for Democratic Nomination

It looks like Kamala Harris is in a stronger position to secure the Democratic nomination, with 68% of delegates supporting her, she has got the backing she needs to become the Democratic Party's official presidential nominee.

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has crossed the line and is now the Democratic Party's presidential nominee. The Associated Press says that at the time of publication, Harris has 2,668 colleagues on board. That makes her the likely Democratic Party nominee to run against Republican Party candidate Donald Trump.

Even though some delegates have already said they'll vote for Harris, they still need to make it official in the next few weeks. They're expected to nominate an official candidate by Aug. 7, before the Democratic Party's national convention.

"I'm proud to have secured the support I needed to become our party's nominee" Harris said in a statement.

Influential Endorsements and Health Concerns

Harris has also got the thumbs-up from Bill and Hillary Clinton and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, which puts to bed any rumours that Hillary might be thinking about running for president again.

Harris' endorsement comes as people are wondering about Biden's health, since he announced that he has contracted the virus.

On July 22, Biden's doctor, Dr. Kevin O'Connor, said the president's symptoms had “almost completely resolved.”

Implications of a Harris Nomination for Crypto

What does a Harris nomination mean for crypto?

Even though Trump promised in June to protect U.S.-based Bitcoin miners and end the Biden administration's “war on crypto,” Harris hasn't said much about digital assets.

On the other hand, Harris is a California native and has been regarded as one of the most tech-savvy Democrats to emerge in recent years.

The big question is who Harris will choose as her running mate. Some people think it might be Pete Buttigieg, Josh Shapiro, JB Pritzker, or Gavin Newsom.

None of them have really said anything about crypto or digital assets. It's not clear if Harris's crypto policy will be very different from the current Biden administration's.
