Oracle Corporation, a global software corporation has re-sued Crypto Oracle LLC, emphasizing the malicious and repeated infringement by the crypto startup.
More About Oracle Corporation’s Claim
On November 25, Oracle Corporation sued Crypto Oracle and its owner Louis Kerner in a California court regarding infringement of the Oracle trademark.
Previously, Oracle Corporation already had a claim and filed a lawsuit in 2019:
“using Oracle’s famous trademark as part of their ‘CryptoOracle’ brand and using that brand to market cryptocurrency-related services to Oracle’s own customers and users.”
The companies then reached a settlement and the court gave in 2020 a permanent injunction against the use of the CryptoOracle name as well as any variations.
However, the case had to be reopened because Oracle Corporation claimed that the crypto startup continued to operate under the trademark and also held a ‘CryptoOracle Collective’ event again violating the existing court order.
Oracle Corporation therefore accused the crypto startup of trademark infringement, unfair competition, dilution of its trademark, cybersquatting, breach of the settlement agreement, and civil contempt of court.
Conclusion
Oracle Corporation is a large and respected software company that has nurtured its brand for many decades.
Their vehement reluctance to share it, especially against their consent is more than understandable, and CryptoOracle will probably have to reckon with that.
