  • Ripple donates $1M to attorney John Deaton’s campaign against Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a self-proclaimed anti-crypto advocate
  • This marks Ripple’s significant involvement in US electoral politics, previously supporting various PACs
  • The 2024 elections will see heightened debates on crypto, with significant implications for the industry

Ripple is hoping to see Elizabeth Warren, the senator who has been leading the opposition to crypto, step down from the Senate. To achieve this goal, Ripple has donated $1 million to Lawyer Deaton, who will challenge Warren.

This isn’t Ripple’s first time getting involved in US elections.

The company that manages XRP and its network has already donated to political action committees (PACs), which are election committees that support specific issues.

Ripple is openly backing one candidate in an electoral battle that will be tough.

The candidate is a lawyer who has always supported Ripple and cryptos. On the other side is a powerful Democratic Senator who has won several times in her state with very high percentages.

$1 Million to Defeat the Anti-Crypto Senator

Anti-crypto Senator Elizabeth Warren has a new rival.

It’s Ripple, which has donated $1 million to the electoral campaign of John E. Deaton, a lawyer running in Massachusetts to challenge the senator in his own fiefdom.

The donation has already been made public and is the largest that has been collected by the candidate, who, however, seems to have little chance of winning according to the most recent polls.

It doesn’t matter who it is, the crypto world is coming together around the party that offers the most support to the sector, and also around individual candidates – regardless of political colour – who support the cause.

Crypto and Elections: The Hot Topic of 2024

In addition to the vote to fill some of the seats in the US Senate, the forthcoming election will also determine the next President of the United States. It looks like the election will be full of passionate discussions about the role of cryptocurrencies in the global economy.

The vice-presidential candidate of the Republican Party has also been a long-standing holder of Bitcoin and a vocal proponent of expanded freedom for the industry.

We could see a lot more debate on these issues in the months before November. This could be a real game-changer in some states.

At the present time, Ripple is one of the most active companies in the cryptocurrency sector. However, other prominent entities, including a16z and Coinbase, as well as numerous smaller companies, are also engaged in significant financial activities within this domain.

It was hard to predict this for the crypto world in the context of the world’s most significant elections.
